Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ministerial/Departmental Appointments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

175 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if, in respect of his Department or of his Minister of State, he will give the names of any persons or agents, other than the established Civil Service, appointed by him to any position within the ambit of his Department since 10 February 1993; if he will give their job descriptions, terms of employment and salary scale; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In my office, a personal secretary — Christine O'Leary — was appointed to replace the previous personal secretary. She has the same salary scale as a secretarial assistant in the Houses of the Oireachtas with the additional standard allowance of £15.38 per week.

Mr. David Moynan, the former Personal Assistant to Minister of State, Deputy Stagg, has been appointed special adviser to Minister Stagg on terms which have yet to be decided. He has been replaced as Personal Assistant by Ms Christina Saults. She is paid at a rate equivalent to the third point on the clerical assistant scale.

All appointments were made on the basis of a contract which provides, inter alia, that the appointments terminate when the office holders cease to hold office.
