Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

239 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if, in respect of his Department or of his Minister of State, he will give the names of any persons or agents, other than the established Civil Service, appointed by him to any position within the ambit of his Department since 10 February 1993; if he will give their job descriptions, terms of employment and salary scale; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As regards the appointment of persons other than civil servants, there has been no change in the position from that as indicated in my written reply to a similar question on 10 February 1993.

Draft contracts of employment in respect of the programme manager and the special adviser have been approved by the Minister for Finance, but until such time as those contracts have been accepted by the people in question, it would not be appropriate for me, at this stage, to supply details of their job descriptions or terms of employment.

I appointed Ms Carmel Foley to the post of chief executive of the Employment Equality Agency with effect from 6 April, 1993.
