Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) General Hospital.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

294 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the requirements related to the next development stage of the Naas General Hospital, County Kildare; his views on the requirements as set out; if he intends to communicate his intentions to the Eastern Health Board with a view of allowing the board plan the remaining stages in the development of this hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The first phase of Naas Hospital has been completed and commissioned. The remaining stages of the development plan for Naas Hospital will be examined by a review group, comprising of Eastern Health Board officials and officials from my Department. This review will take account of the overall acute hospital requirements of the area and recent developments in the delivery of hospital services.

My Department has written to the Eastern Health Board seeking the board's nominations for membership of this review group, which I expect, will be established in the near future.
