Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Murphy Report.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

307 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education the time scale for the implementation of the Murphy report.

The report of the Working Group on Assessment for the Junior Certificate recommends, inter alia, school-based assessment in aurals, orals and practical assignments to be carried out by the class teacher or by a teacher from the same or another school. Any implementation of these recommendations must have the full support of second level teachers. Further discussions will be held with the teacher unions on the matter and it is not possible to indicate the final outcome pending these discussions.
