Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Job Sharing.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

27 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health the number of persons within his Department who are currently operating on a work-sharing basis; and if he intends to encourage a higher percentage of his staff to become involved in work-sharing projects.

The information sought by the Deputy in so far as my Department is concerned is as follows:

Every applicant interested in job-sharing has been matched with a job-sharing partner either within the Department or in another suitable Department since the commencement of the scheme. The total number of staff currently operating on a job-sharing basis is ten. The numbers by grade are as follows:

Grade

Number

Clerical Assistant/Typist

3

Clerical Officer

1

Staff Officer

1

Executive Officer

4

Higher Executive Officer

1

Total

10

Availing of the job-sharing facility is a matter for decision, on a personal basis, by each member of staff. However, every encouragement is given to those who do opt for this arrangement.
