Question:117 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he has been requested to reinstate the local health advisory committees; if he will respond in a favourable fashion; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am at present considering my proposals for reform of the health boards and will be giving careful consideration to the role of local representation in the structure of the health services in the light of the views expressed by a number of county councils.
These proposals will be an important part of the new National Health Strategy which I am preparing at present.
