Question:

90 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a request from Kildare County Council for payment of funds due to that body on foot of library accommodation at Athy Town Hall which the Council has provided; if he has the necessary funds within his Department's Estimate to meet this request; if he intends to respond favourably; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has received an application for funding for a library which has been provided at Athy. Following consideration of the proposal and on the advice of the Chomhairle Leabharlanna, the Department wrote to Kildare County Council in October, 1992 suggesting changes to the layout of the library and seeking additional information on the project. When a reply is received, the matter will be considered further.
