Vol. 431 No. 3

Written Answers. - Elimination of Growth Promoters.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

169 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he has satisfied himself with the progress to date in the elimination of such growth promoters as angel dust; if he can verify evidence indicating a reduction in such use; if the technical procedure to detect such substances is foolproof; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that progress is being made in deterring the use of illegal growth promoters. The introduction of the Animal Remedies Bill, 1933, which passed the Committee Stage in the Dáil last week, will enhance efforts to eliminate the use of such substances.
