Vol. 431 No. 3

Written Answers. - Additional Milk Quotas.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

178 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will introduce a subsidy scheme for farmers whose quota is under 30,000 gallons to enable them to purchase additional milk quotas thereby making them a viable dairy unit.

I have been pressing very strongly within the EC Council of Ministers for a Community subsidy towards the purchase of additional quota by certain categories of producers. No decision has yet been taken by Council on this matter.
