Vol. 431 No. 3

Written Answers. - Promotion of Kerry Airport.

Michael Noonan

Question:

119 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will confirm that SFADCo is being asked to market Kerry Airport at Farranfore, County Kerry; if a change in legislation is required to commit SFADCo to promote a private company outside their functional area; if he will guarantee that the promotion of Kerry Airport is designed to develop new business and not to transfer traffic from Shannon; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The policy in relation to the development and promotion of Irish airports is a matter primarily for my colleague, the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications. To the extent that the question refers to the tourism function of Shannon Development, this is a matter for the Minister for Tourism and Trade.
