My Department gave the Cystic Fibrosis Association a grant of £64,000 towards the cost of a pilot home nursing scheme and physiotherapy service in 1990.
Following a recent meeting with the association I am at present considering a request for funding for specialist cystic fibrosis nursing posts. I will let the Deputy know my decision in the near future.
In addition to the normal range of health services, people with cystic fibrosis are covered by the Long Term Illness Scheme under which drugs and medicines for the treatment of that condition are available free of charge. Many parents of children with cystic fibrosis would also be entitled to the domiciliary care allowance of £89.50 per month.
