Question:

25 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the action, if any, he intends to take following his study of the report he has received from the ESB regarding the future of the ESB generating station at Allenwood, County Kildare; if, in regard to this report, he is in a position to direct the ESB to return the station to full production; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have recently received a report from the board of the ESB which recommends closure of the generating station at Allenwood. That report will be carefully considered, taking into account the economic and technical issues which arise, before any decision is taken on the board's recommendation.
