Vol. 431 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Amnesty Income.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

37 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Finance the estimates his Department has on the amounts of hot money which is held abroad; and the likely inflows of capital if there was to be a tax amnesty for such moneys.

My Department has no reliable method of estimating the amounts of funds which are held abroad by Irish residents on which the tax liabilities have not been fully met. It is therefore not possible to estimate the likely inflows of capital resulting from a tax amnesty for such moneys.
