Question:

217 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the reason the annual reports and accounts for 1991 of the National Council for Educational Awards, the National College of Art and Design and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies have not yet been submitted.

The position is that audited accounts for 1991 in respect of the institutions in question are awaited from the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General.

It has been the practice to await audited accounts prior to submission of annual reports although this is not a requirement under the relevant legislation. I will consider whether it would be best, in the interests of minimising delay, to have the reports and accounts submitted separately.

The schools selected for receipt of the new remedial service are set out on the following list.

My Department will be in contact with these schools shortly to make the necessary arrangements.
