Vol. 432 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Enterprise Council.

John Bruton

Question:

139 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if it is proposed to introduce legislation to establish the National Enterprise Council.

A National Enterprise Council will be established to manage the funding of the County Enterprise Boards. The role of the National Enterprise Council will be to;

—allocate funds to the County Enterprise Boards and monitor their overall spending patterns;

—establish criteria for the evaluation of project applications to County Enterprise Boards;

—evaluate the results.

The basis for the legal incorporation of the Council as well as operational details relating to its composition and staffing have yet to be finalised by Government. I hope to be in a position to make a fuller statement on this matter shortly.
