Vol. 432 No. 2
66 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has for ENCY, that is, the European Nature Conservation Year, in 1995; and if he will be establishing a national organising committee.
67 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Finance whether Ireland was represented at the annual general meeting of the European Centre for Nature Conservation, that is, Centre Naturope; if so, if he will give the names of the representatives from both Government and non-governmental organisations.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 66 and 67 together.
The Council of Europe has designated 1995 as European Nature Conservation Year, ENCY. ENCY will be co-ordinated by the Centre Naturope at a European level, and by the national agent at a national level. The national agent for Ireland is the Office of Public Works as the national nature conservancy agency.
I will in the near future, be appointing a national committee with wide representation to oversee the organisation of appropriate actions to mark this event. Ireland was represented at the annual general meeting of Centre Naturope by a delegate from the Office of Public Works.
