Vol. 432 No. 2

Written Answers. - Office Supplies and Equipment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

115 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health the degree to which Irish manufactured office supplies and equipment, including computer supplies, are provided to his Department or to offices the Estimate for which falls within his group; the extent to which such requirements are met by overseas manufacturers where Irish alternatives exist; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The bulk purchase of office equipment, including computer equipment, is made following competitive tendering in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines entitled "An Outline of Government Contracts Procedures". A significant amount of the Department's office suplies including stationary is purchased through the Government Supplies Agency.

Details of the country of manufacture of all the office supplies purchased are not readily available in my Department.
