Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

142 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason payment of the special beef premium scheme for June 1992, was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

The application of the person named for grants under the June 1992 special beef premium scheme was rejected when subjected to a computer validation check because of invalid tags. The problem with the application is now being dealt with and subject to it being resolved payment should be made within the next few weeks.

John Ellis

Question:

143 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will make a statement regarding Parliamentary Question No. 105 of 20 May 1993 in which he stated that a person (details supplied) had not submitted details regarding the rented land despite the fact that it had been with the Sligo office of his Department for over 18 months; and if he will have arrangements made for an investigation into the entire matter and for the payment of the grants due to the person.

My Department has carried out a further examination of the records in relation to the person named and is unable to trace any proof submitted by him that he had lands rented in 1991. If he submits the evidence now, the question of paying 1991 cattle headage grants will be considered further.
