Vol. 432 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Hospital Land Sale.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

175 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health if he will give an assurance that his Department will not put pressure on St. Luke's Hospital to dispose of a small portion of land attached to the hospital for housing development in view of the fact that this is one of the few remaining green spaces in the Rathgar area, containing superb stands of specimen trees.

Decisions regarding the sale of land at St. Luke's Hospital are primarily a matter for St. Luke's and St. Anne's Hospital Board in accordance with the provisions of section 23 (2) of St. Luke's and St. Anne's Hospital Board (Establishment) Order, 1988. In accordance with estate management policy, all health agencies are obliged to review regularly the use of all assets and to dispose prudently of those which are surplus to requirements. The proceeds of any such disposals are used to maintain and enhance the health services.
