Question:74 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he expects Ireland will continue to receive net EC transfers, on the same relative scale, beyond the expiration of the Delors II package in 1999.

EC funding at a high level is now ensured to the end of the century. The financing of the Community post-1999 and the composition of its expenditure will depend on factors such as the level of integration achieved and the enlargement of the Community that will undoubtedly take place before then. However, I am confident that a significant level of net EC transfers to Ireland will continue after 1999.
