Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deenihan — the need for action to protect tourists from physical attacks and robberies so as to prevent potential damage to the Irish tourism industry in view of a series of attacks on tourists recently; (2) Deputy Pat Gallagher — the urgent need to sanction the group water scheme for Tinnycross, Tullamore, County Offaly, given the serious pollution of the local groundwater which is causing distress to residents of the local area. (3) Deputy B. Smith — the continued inconvenience caused to two elderly ladies (details supplied) in County Cavan which resulted in these people being denied access to their home on Friday evening and Saturday morning, 11 and 12 June 1993, as a result of the British army placing a barrier on the cul-de-sac road leading to their home on the Cavan-Femanagh Border; (4) Deputy Sargent — the resources available to the Wildlife Service and whether the Minister for Finance has any plans to upgrade the service in the Dublin area which at present is covered by one officer who is often called to surrounding counties as well. (5) An Teachta Ó Cuiv — Na pleananna atá ag an Aire Oideachtais le buan-chóireacht a chur ar fáil do Ghaelscoil dara ar an Rinn Mhóir, Contae na Gaillimhe. (6) Deputy de Valera — the difficulties faced by many disabled people in obtaining employment due to the fact that the 3 per cent quota has not been reached in the public service; (7) Deputy Creed — the failure of the Department of Education to provide adequate resources or time to organise a “Sports for All Day” in our national schools; (8) Deputy Quill —if the “Sports for All Day” for national schools announced to take place on 17 June 1993 has been organised in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Department of Education; (9) Deputy J. Higgins — the refusal to give special consideration in the leaving certificate examination to a person (details supplied) with a proven specific learning difficulty; (10) Deputy M. Brennan — the arterial drainage scheme for the Arrow-Owenmore rivers in County Sligo; (11) Deputy Allen — the problems facing Irish Steel, County Cork, and the need to stabilise the employment situation there by means of a business partnership; (12) Deputy Ahearn — the cessastion of numerous social employment schemes as a result of the failure to provide sufficient funding; (13) Deputy E. Kenny — the necessity to make arrangements in respect of the issuing of visas for Irish soccer fans who may wish to travel to the United States for next year's World Cup games.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies E. Kenny, Deenihan, Ó Cuív and Quill.
