The compilation of crime statistics is a matter for the Garda authorities and this information is published by the Garda Commissioner in his Annual Report on Crime, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
The Garda authorities have informed me that the manner in which crime statistics are compiled is constantly being reviewed and any alterations or improvements which are deemed appropriate are implemented from time to time.
