Question:66 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the number of incidents of mugging reported in the past six months; the number of prosecutions which followed; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Mugging Incidents.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought by the Deputy comes within the crime category of larceny from the person with aggravation. However, figures for the last six months are not yet available.
I can assure the Deputy that all possible measures are taken by the Gardaí to deal with the problem of "muggings" and the situation is kept under constant review.
