74 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of all the European Conventions signed and ratified respectively regarding the welfare of animals.

The information requested is as follows: European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, 1968 — ratified by Ireland on 14 March 1975; European Convention for the Protection of Animals kept for Farming Purposes, 1976 — ratified by Ireland on 7 April 1986; Additional Protocol for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, 1979 — ratified by Ireland on 6 October 1980; European Convention for the Protection of Animals for Slaughter, 1979 — ratified by Ireland on 10 December 1981; European Convention for the Protection of Vertebrate Animals used for Experimental and Other Scientific Purposes, 1986 — signed by Ireland on 6 December 1990; European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animals, 1987. The question of accession by Ireland is under consideration, and Protocol of Amendment to the European Convention for the Protection of Animals kept for Farming Purposes, 1992. The question of accession by Ireland is under consideration.
