Vol. 432 No. 6
127 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment if he recently met with NATO; if so, the matters which were discussed; and the response, if any, which he has given to the organisation to these matters.
128 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a request for funding from NATO; and if so, if he will give favourable consideration to that request.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 127 and 128 together.
I met a deputation from NATO on 20 April, 1993. The discussions covered a wide range of issues relating to rents and purchase of local authority dwellings, management and maintenance, Mespil Road flats etc; but it would not be appropriate for me to set out in detail the content of the meeting. I wrote to NATO on 1 June, 1993 replying to a number of the more immediate issues they raised with me. In response to the request for funding from my Department, I have informed the organisation that there are no funds at my disposal to enable an allocation to be made to them.
