Question:

101 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the costs of the new computer system at present being installed in the GMS Payments Board offices.

As part of the ongoing development of information technology in the health services generally, a major investment programme in the GMS Payments Board is taking place at present. The estimated cost of the computer system currently being installed in the Board is £1.85 million including VAT. The new system will replace the existing system which was originally developed more than 10 years ago and has come to the end of its useful life. It will facilitate improve management and efficiency of the schemes operated by the board.
