Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Bullock Premium.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

206 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a bullock premium grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will direct that payment be made in view of the circumstances involved in this case.

The person named has already been paid his grants under the 1992 special beef premium, cattle and equines headage and suckler cow premium (small scale milk producers) schemes.

He applied for grants on 21 animals under the 1993 special beef premium scheme for animals of 21 months of age or over but sold 4 of those before the 1 month retention period had elapsed. As the number of animals sold within the retention period exceeds 20 per cent of the number of remaining animals, the conditions of the scheme preclude any premium being paid in this case.
