Vol. 433 No. 5

Written Answers. - Irish Shows Association.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

106 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will provide finance for the Irish Shows Association in 1993; and if so, the amounts to be provided for each show.

My Department provided grant aid to a number of farm and rural development organisations to the extent of £76,000 this year. While I recognise the important role played by the Irish Shows Association in farming and rural life, there are, in the current budgetary situation, no funds at my disposal to extend grants to that association.
