20 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will make grant aid available for the refurbishment of the historical St. Ibernius' Church at Wexford under the heritage grant scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Grants for the restoration or conservation of buildings of architectural merit are distributed by the National Heritage Council, subject to my approval.
All matters relating to the assessment of applications and decisions about whether or not to recommend grant assistance in any particular case are for the council itself.
