Vol. 433 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Wicklow Business Restrictions.

Liz McManus

Question:

139 Ms. McManus asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the serious situation that has arisen for a company (details supplied) in County Wicklow, in relation to the future of eight jobs which are dependent on the bakery/restaurant business, he will ensure that these jobs can be maintained and that restrictions be lifted on the operation of this business.

An application for registration under the Food Hygiene Regulations 1950-89 was made in May 1992 to the Eastern Health Board in respect of the premises in question. Following a period of a year's provisional registration, the Eastern Health Board refused outright registration giving nine grounds for so doing.

That decision is now under formal appeal to me as Minister for Health.
