Vol. 433 No. 7

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Facilities.

Liz McManus

Question:

147 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health the average waiting time for speech therapy for children in County Wicklow.

The provision of speech therapy services in the County Wicklow area is a matter for the Eastern Health Board. I am advised by the board that it is not possible to determine an average waiting time for speech therapy services as waiting times vary depending on the priority afforded to the different speech and language disorders and on the levels of demand in particular community care areas.

Liz McManus

Question:

148 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health when persons (details supplied) in County Wicklow will receive speech therapy that they are so badly in need of.

The provision of speech therapy services in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
