Vol. 433 No. 7

Written Answers. - Family Centres Establishment.

Bernard Allen

Question:

61 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will encourage health boards to establish a drop-in type family centre in each area to cater for parents under stress.

Under section 3 of the Child Care Act, each health board is required to develop a network of child care and family support services. The provision of family centres will fall to be considered by the boards in the context of this statutory provision and the £5 million recently set aside by the Government for the development of child care services.
