Vol. 433 No. 7

Written Answers. - Community Enterprise Schemes.

Liz McManus

Question:

85 Ms. McManus asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will ensure that the community enterprise schemes are not finished until the new county enterprise boards are in place.

The small and community enterprise scheme (SCES) was introduced in 1992 as part of the EC co-financed Operational Programme for Rural Development. The implementation of the scheme, which is concerned with the provision of grant assistance to small rural enterprises, has been devolved in most areas to the county development offices. The scheme is operated under the overall responsibility of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry and is unrelated to the Exchequer funding to be made available to county enterprise boards in the current year.
