Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Second Level Places.

Tony Gregory

Question:

69 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education her views on the fact that there are children in Dublin's north inner city who cannot get a place in a second level vocational education committee school as the three local schools at North Strand, Marino and Parnell Square are full to capacity.

The schools in question operate under the aegis of City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee and matters such as the admission of the pupils to the schools are primarily ones for the committee. From inquiries made, I understand that a number of pupils have had difficulties this year in securing places in two of the schools. My Department is in touch with the Committee on the matter with a view to ensuring that adequate facilities are available for all pupils seeking admission to the schools.
