Vol. 434 No. 3

Written Answers. - Moneys Expended to Galway Company.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

117 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of any moneys expended from his Department, or the national lottery, in favour of a company (details supplied) in Galway over the past ten years.

My Department pays a subsidy on the swimming pool element of the annual loan charges incurred by Galway Corporation on a 35 year loan of £250,000 raised in 1971 to develop the Leisureland Complex. Over the past ten years, the amount paid was £29,507. My Department has not paid any other grant or subsidy in respect of the Leisureland Complex over the past ten years.

In November 1992, I sanctioned the raising of a non-subsidisable loan of £0.5 million by Galway Corporation for the redevelopment of the Leisureland Complex.
