Question:192 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Education if a grant will be approved in respect of school transport for persons (details supplied) in County Mayo.
Written Answers. - County Mayo School Transport.
Remote area grants are paid in respect of children who live at least three miles from their school or from the transport service to their nearest school. Since the first family named by the Deputy reside only 2.1 miles from their nearest school, they do not qualify for a remote area grant.
The other children reside 3.1 miles from their nearest school and are, therefore, eligible for the grant. This has been approved and a cheque for £252, in respect of the 1992-93 school-year, issued to the family on 4 August 1993.
