46 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Finance if he has provided the necessary additional information to enable the refurbishment of a Garda station (details supplied) in County Tipperary to commence; if he will give details of any such information; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Department of Justice requested that the Commissioners of Public Works carry out certain maintenance works to this station.
The overall condition of this building is very poor. The works requested by the Garda authorities were totally inadequate to bring the station up to a satisfactory condition if it is to continue in its present use. Therefore, the commissioners recommended an alternative, more extensive, scheme of works.
The Department of Justice sought additional information from the commissioners in respect of the cost estimate of the alternative proposal and all of the information requested has recently been supplied.
