Vol. 434 No. 4

Written Answers. - Payment to Company.

Michael McDowell

Question:

75 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of payments made by his Department to a company (details supplied) or any associated company in the last year.

In December 1992 discussions were held with the company in question concerning the production costs of a film video on Ireland's Bilateral Development Aid Programme. An agreement for the production of the video was signed on 28 January 1993 and a sum of £30,000 was paid to the company in January 1993, in part payment of the agreed costs. The balance due on satisfactory completion of the film, approximately £55,000, will be paid in the coming weeks.

An officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs attended a script writing course held in the Civil Service Training Centre on 15-16 September 1992. The course was run by the company in question and a sum of £200 was paid to the company to cover the charge per person for course attendance.

The Office of the Tánaiste has made no payments to the company in question or to any associated company in the last year.
