Vol. 434 No. 6

Written Answers. - Threat by Loyalist Terrorist Groups.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

78 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice the latest information available to her and the Garda regarding the reported threat by loyalist terrorist groups to bomb locations in the Republic; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Threats by Loyalist paramilitaries to carry out bomb attacks in the State have been discussed at recent Anglo-Irish Conferences and are the subject of on-going assessment by the Garda authorities in consultation with the RUC. I do not propose, for obvious reasons, to go into detail about the matter but I can assure the House that the gardaí have appropriate security arrangements in place.
