Question:148 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Justice when a replacement Garda will be appointed to an area (details supplied) in County Galway; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Vol. 434 No. 9
148 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Justice when a replacement Garda will be appointed to an area (details supplied) in County Galway; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I should explain that the question of the allocation of Garda manpower and resources is a matter for the Garda Commissioner.
In the present case, I am informed by the Garda that there will be no diminution of essential services in the Kilcolgan area while the matter of a replacement garda is being considered. The area at the moment is policed by the Sergeant-in-charge at Ardrahan with such assistance as may be required from the district headquarters at Gort.
I would be concerned if there were to be any unnecessary delay in dealing with this matter, and I have informed the Commissioner accordingly.
