Vol. 434 No. 9

Written Answers. - Flood Damage Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

162 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he has progressed appeals for aid arising from flooding in June 1933, with particular reference to the area adjacent to the Camac River, Clondalkin, Dublin 22; if he has met with representatives from the area; if he has fully responded to such representations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated to the House on 23 June last (column 1858 of the Official Report) there are no funds available to my Department to assist householders affected by flood damage. At a meeting on 27 July, I advised residents of the area concerned and their public representatives accordingly and referred them to other possible sources of assistance.

Proposals for a flood relief scheme to serve this area have been submitted to my Department by Dublin County Council and are currently under consideration.
