Written Answers. - Officers' Ratings.

Nora Owen

Question:

38 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Defence if, in relation to officers' annual performance appraisal reports in respect of each of the last three years, he will give the number of officers, by rank and command, who were awarded each of the overall ratings of average, above average, and outstanding.

Jim Higgins

Question:

39 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Defence if, in relation to officers' annual performance appraisal reports in respect of each of the last three years, he will give the number of officers, by rank and command, who were awarded each of the overall ratings of average, above average, and outstanding.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 38 and 39 together.

The total number of officers who were awarded the overall ratings referred to in the question is as followed:—

Average

652

1990

In the interests of confidentiality it is considered inappropriate to give a breakdown of the ratings by rank and command.
The latest year for which aggregate figures are readily available is 1991.
