Vol. 435 No. 1

Written Answers. - Qualification for Slaughter Premium.

Mary Flaherty

Question:

36 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, he will take to secure the agreement of the EC authorities to the inclusion of cattle exported live as qualifying animals for the determination of the application of the slaughter premium in Ireland in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Bernard Allen

Question:

60 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, he will take to secure the agreement of the EC authorities to the inclusion of cattle exported live as qualifying animals for the determination of the application of the slaughter premium in Ireland in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 36 and 60 together.

The terms of the slaughter premium were agreed as part of a balanced package of CAP reform measures in June 1992. It would be unrealistic to expect the Council of Ministers to agree to reopen discussions on the package at this stage.
