Vol. 435 No. 3

Written Answers. - Fish Farming.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

76 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine if he has recently given approval for the extension of the designated area for fish farming in the Inver-Doorin Point area of County Donegal.

The area of Inver Bay, County Donegal which was designated in 1987 as suitable for aquaculture has not been extended to date. A consultative process is currently underway to assess and agree on suitable locations for permanent fallowing sites for those salmon farms operating within the Bay. These proposals will be submitted for my approval when the assessment and consultative process has been completed.
