Vol. 435 No. 3

Written Answers. - Pancreas Transplant Statistics.

Ivor Callely

Question:

113 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the number of pancreas transplants that have been carried out in Ireland; if, in view of the success and advances in such transplants, he will give the additional funding that will be made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand from Beaumont Hospital that three pancreas transplants have been carried out in Ireland to date. The question of additional funding for this new procedure will be considered as sympathetically as possible in the context of the many competing demands for resources and the hospital's priorities for new developments.
