Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - Gorey (Wexford) Coursing Meeting.

Tony Gregory

Question:

190 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his Department monitored the Gorey Coursing Meeting on 7 November 1993; if any hares were injured at the meeting; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The meeting in question was monitored by an official of my Department who recommended that a hare, which appeared to him to be injured, should be put down. The Department has been since informed by the Irish Coursing Club that the hare was not in fact injured and was subsequently released with all the other hares.
