Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Chris Flood

Question:

250 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to have primary school education provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 as his parents are unable to have him admitted to his local primary school; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person referred to by the Deputy is currently enrolled in a second level school in Dublin 24, but unfortunately has failed to attend this school to date.

My Department has been informed that the Eastern Health Board is currently seeking to arrange a placement for the boy in an appropriate residential unit. In the meantime, my Department is examining the possibility of providing home tuition for the boy until his long term educational needs can be assessed.
