Question:261 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the schools in County Meath that do not have access to a remedial teacher, but which have applied for and are still awaiting the provision of such a service.

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the attached list.
I should point out that two additional remedial posts were allocated to County Meath at the commencement of the current school-year, resulting in a further five schools receiving the service. As a result of this allocation 83 per cent of pupils in County Meath now have access to a remedial service.
I will be keeping the question of further need in this area under review as part of a broader commitment to appoint a substantial number of additional remedial teachers in the coming years. The needs of all schools, including the schools in County Meath will be considered in this context.
