264 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when payments were made to EPT contract people for the year 1992-1993 in respect of a college (details supplied) in County Carlow; the reason part-time staff for 1993-94 have not been paid; if she will have this arrangement in respect of part-time staff examined; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I understand from the relevant statutory authority that where it was possible to pay EPT contracts at an early stage in the 1992-93 academic year such payments were made. Where difficulties arose negotiations took place between teachers' union and college management and settlement was arrived at before the end of the academic year.
I am also informed that all part-time staff in the college for the current academic year 1993-94 have been paid up to date.
