Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - Pensions Board Membership.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

139 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether the membership of the Pensions Board includes any pensioners.

The Pensions Board was set up to oversee the implementation of legislation which I introduced to protect the pension rights of all members of pension schemes, including pensioners.

In accordance with the Act members of the Board are nominated by Trade Unions, Employer organisations, organisations representing the actuarial, accountancy and legal professions, pension funds and the insurance industry and the Ministers for Social Welfare and Finance.
